Yellow Scrubs?

Yes, absolutely. Apparently you have to look like a Big Bird impersonator at Detroit Children's Hospital where Ellie had her tear duct surgery yesterday.

She did SUPER well. Even the nurses were surprised by how well she took everything- not even one tear until she wasn't allowed to have more juice (clearly their 4oz. limit was not what she had in mind). The doctor said that the surgery went really well and she should be totally fine and have no problems in the future. The saddest part of the day was that we didn't get to keep our super cool duds. Sigh.

TWO!!!!!

My baby is TWO!!!! Hard to believe? Not really. She's been settling into those "terrific two's" for a while now:) We left the days of babyhood long ago. But it is hard to believe how fast the time has gone! Ellie is a firecracker, but we wouldn't have it any other way (most of the time...). Here's a little taste of her birthday weekend- for the most part we kept it pretty low key, since toddlers can only handle so much. She had a great time! And in case you were wondering, yes I did make that cake and yes, I am pretty stinking proud of it.

Here's my attempt to get some cute photos on her actual birthday... nobody really felt like cooperating.

This is mostly what Ellie has been doing for the past month or so: perfecting the stink face. Pretty good, huh?

Mixed feelings

Scott thinks I'm "such a little kid" about these things, but I just don't like the end of things. I. Just. Don't. So I face the final film installment of possibly the most epic book series ever written with mixed feelings. Yes, I am INCREDIBLY excited. But I'm also sad. Another reason I'm sad is that we don't get to see the new movie until Saturday night, due to my own laziness (honestly, I didn't think it would sell out so quickly here!). So I guess all I have to say is that I will hate you forever if you ruin this movie for me before I get to see it (I'm officially closing myself off to facebook, blogs, maybe even phone calls until I see it on Saturday) and also be patient with me and my fellow HP lovers. This is a bittersweet time for us.

(I still haven't given up hope that the saga will continue one day... Ellie probably has no idea how much I am looking forward to her 11th birthday. You never know!)

Never get between a man and his tools

Getting between my Grizz and his toolbox was exactly the mistake our poor bumper made last week. When Scott came home and announced that he was going to take off our bumper, I naively gave him the green light. He had to be kidding right? Wrong. A half hour later my husband was completely covered in dirt, grime, and general car yuckiness and our bumper was sitting in the living room. Awesome. Seeing as our bumper had been broken for a while now (I won't name names, but a certain red-haired brother might have had something to do with it...), I had my doubts about Scott's ability to fix it. But I kept these doubts to myself, (or at least I tried to) while Scott diligently turned to the best source at his disposal for automotive advice: youtube. After a night of tossing and turning and calling both our parents, Scott finally synthesized all of every one's ideas and, abandoning the prevailing idea of ordering a new bumper, decided instead to "bondo" it. When he told me about his plan, I think I was supposed to already know what "bondo"-ing meant... needless to say when Scott returned home from the automotive store with some realllll stinky glue/putty, I had a pretty good idea for what "bondo" was. And about an hour later, this is what I found:

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. So what did I learn from this experience? Well, for one, bondo is not something that you want near your nostrils... ever. Second, my Grizz is one handy man. And third, you should think twice before letting a man get out his toolbox.

Where dreams come true...

Oh Disneyland. Do you know how much I love you? Do  you know that my heart aches for you while I'm away? Did you notice that I actually cried a little when it was time to leave you last week? (yes, I did in reality start to cry, just like a 3 year old)

We had a wonderful time in California with the Andreasen clan. Of course we did many wonderful things including lots of play time with the cousins, an outing to the aquarium, an outing to the beach, and of course Disneyland. The trip was too short, but I'm just glad we were able to go. Ellie had a wonderful time with her cousins and I so enjoyed getting to see our California family- they are wonderful. I even got to meet the famed Aunt Leslie of Scott's childhood, which was wonderful. So for your viewing pleasure, here are some picture treats for you:

At the aquarium...

Cousin love

Cousin bathtime

I'm thinking of entering this one into the next awkward family photo competition... I'm pretty grandma is the only one looking at the camera...

Waiting to ride the train

Gotta be the cutest picture you've ever seen, right?

Taking Micky's car for a spin

Our attempt at a family photo while waiting for Dumbo

You should be jealous... this was seriously delish

So until we meet again, Magical Kingdom, remember that I love you. And I will see you soon (I made Scott promise that we would go again in the next year or so)

House Pictures

Some of you may be wondering what our new home looks like, so I thought I'd post some pictures. Bear in mind that it has been inhabited by an older woman for mannnnyyyy years, so you can rest assured that the floral wall paper, pink and black tile, dusty rose carpet and tiny kitchen will be addressed. In fact, you probably won't even recognize this place once I'm finished with it! And also, in case you were wondering, the reason I haven't posted these earlier is because I have been completely SUCKED INTO PINTEREST. Its like there's no other site on the great wide Internet to look at anymore. So, without further ado, onto the pictures:

It has 3 bedrooms upstairs, a full bath upstairs, a half bath on the main level, and a full basement (the knotty pine down there will soon be a thing of the past). It was built in 1946, so its just chock full of class and charm- including real glass doorknobs!! I am quite excited about making this house our home (as cheesy as that sounds). So get ready for some after-shots in a few weeks! (and probably some pretty fun construction shots too:) )
